Chapter 35
True Worship and Prayer

35. He that keeps the law brings offerings enough, and he that takes heed to the commandment offers a peace offering, for he that is mindful of the law is as one that offers fine flour, and he that honours his neighbour offers a thank offering. To depart from wickedness is a thing pleasing to the Lord, and to forsake unrighteousness is a propitiation for sins, and thou shalt not come before the Lord empty, for all these things ought to be done for the commandment's sake. The offering of the righteous makes the altar fat, and the sweet savour thereof is before the most High, for the sacrifice of a just man is acceptable, and the memorial thereof shall never be forgotten. Give the Lord his honor with a good eye, and diminish not the firstfruits of your hands, for in all your gifts shew a cheerful countenance, and dedicate thy tithes with gladness, for if thou offerest willingly, it shall be accepted, and if thou puttest it in with a good eye, thou shalt be accepted. Give the most High according as he has enriched thee, and as thou hast gotten, give with a cheerful eye, for the Lord is a judge, and with him is no respect of persons. He will not accept any person against the poor, but will hear the prayer of the oppressed, for he will not despise the supplication of the fatherless, nor the widow, when she pours out her complaint. Do not the tears run down the widow's cheeks, and her cry against him that causes them to fall? He that serves God with a sincere heart shall be accepted, and his prayer shall reach unto the clouds, for the prayer of the humble pierces the clouds, and till it come nigh, he will not be comforted, and will not depart till the most High shall regard him, and judge righteously, and execute judgment. For the Lord will not be slack, neither will the mighty judge be slack, for he will repay vengeance to the heathen, and when he punishes, he will give them that hate him, and with patience will he suffer them to escape, and he will not be slack, but he will repay vengeance to the heathen, and he will give them that hate him, and with patience will he suffer them to escape. He will repay vengeance to the heathen, and when he punishes, he will give them that hate him, and with patience will he suffer them to escape, and he will not be slack, but he will repay vengeance to the heathen, and he will give them that hate him. He will repay vengeance to the heathen, and when he punishes, he will give them that hate him, and with patience will he suffer them to escape, and he will not be slack, but he will repay vengeance to the heathen, and he will give them that hate him.
